Do you know how many Presidents of the United States are kitty lovers?

There have been 22 Presidential kitties spotted over the years:

Tabby (who was a tabby) was the first cat to live in the white house with our 16th President, Abraham Lincoln.

Piccolomini, Miss Pussy and Siam belonged to Rutherford Hayes, our 19th President. Siam was a gift from the American Consul in Bangkok and the first known Siamese cat to reach the United States.

Our 25th President, William McKinley had two angora kittens: Valeriano Weyler and Enrique DeLome.

Slippers and Tom Quartz belonged to our 26th President, Theodore Roosevelt.

Our 28th President, Woodrow Wilson was the proud owner of Puffins.

Calvin Coolidge our 29th President had 4 kitties: Smokey, Blackie, Timmy and Tiger.

Our 35th President, John F. Kennedy was allergic to cats but his daughter Caroline had Tom Kitten who lived in the white house for a short period of time before they found him a good home.

38th President, Gerald Ford’s daughter Susan had a kitty named Shan who lived with them in the white house.

Jimmy Carter our 39th President had a Siamese kitty named Misty Malarky Ying Yang who was a great companion to his daughter, Amy Carter.

Our 40th President Ronald Reagan had 2 kitties: Cleo and Sara who were  tortoise shell strays who lived at the Reagan’s ranch.

Bill Clinton, our 42nd President, had 2 kitties: Socks and Buddy.

The 43rd President, George W. Bush also had 2 kitties: Ernie and India  ”Willie” Bush.
